Ebola: UN health agency to convene emergency meeting on deadly disease
5 August 2014 – The United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) announced today that it will convene a two-day meeting of its emergency committee starting tomorrow to determine whether the current Ebola viral disease outbreak in West Africa is a public health emergency of international concern.

Doctors, nurses and health staff urgently needed to combat ebola – UN health agency
4 August 2014 – The United Nations health agency today appealed for urgently needed contributions to combat the deadly Ebola disease in West Africa, saying hundreds of doctors, nurses, health staff and materials are needed in the region “as fast as possible.”

Mr. Djinnit condemns the renewal of heinous attacks in Nigeria
Dakar, 24 July 2014 – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for West Africa and High Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Nigeria, Mr. Said Djinnit, strongly condemns the killing of civilians perpetrated over the week-end and yesterday reportedly by the Boko Haram group in the town of Damboa, in Borno State, and in Kaduna, in Kaduna State.
