Ahead of drawdown, Security Council extends UN office in Sierra Leone for one year

26 March 2013 – The Security Council today extended the United Nations mission in Sierra Leone until 31 March 2014, by when it should be fully drawn down and its responsibilities transferred to the UN country team.

UN calls for increased support to Mano River Union efforts for Peace and Security in West Africa

Conakry, 20 March 2013 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for West Africa, Said Djinnit attended, in Conakry, the opening ceremony of a technical workshop supporting the peace and security activities of the Mano River Union (MRU). The Minister of Security, Civil Protection and Reform of Security Sector of the Republic of Guinea, H.E. Mr. Maramany Cissé and the Deputy Secretary-General of the MRU, Linda Koroma also participated.
