Said Djinnit attends the Mano River Union Summit in Monrovia

Monrovia, 30 April 2013 - Said Djinnit, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for West Africa, participated in the 22nd ordinary Summit of the Mano River Union (MRU) held in Monrovia, Liberia, today that brought together the Heads of State of Liberia, Sierra-Leone, Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire.

XXXI ST Meeting of the Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission

Yaoundé, 26 April 2013 The Commission on demarcation of the border between Cameroon and Nigeria has closed its thirty-first (31) session today in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission is composed of official delegations from Cameroon and Nigeria, led respectively by Mr. Amadou Ali, Vice-Prime Minister and Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke, Minister of Justice. It is chaired by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa, Mr. Said Djinnit.

XXXI ST Meeting of the Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission

Said Djinnit discussed the situation in West Africa with President Alassane Ouattara

Programme conjoint pour renforcer le rôle des femmes pour la stabilité en Afrique de l'Ouest
Dakar, le 18 Avril 2013 Le Groupe de Travail Femmes, Paix et Sécurité en Afrique de l’Ouest a adopté un programme régional conjoint sur 5 ans pour accélérer la mise en oeuvre effective des résolutions 1325, 1820 et suivantes du Conseil de sécurité des Nations-Unies dans la sous-région. Le Groupe de travail entend renforcer le rôle des femmes dans la prévention des conflits et dans la consolidation de la paix en Afrique de l’Ouest.

Djinnit call for calm in Guinea

Dakar, 18 April 2013 - Said Djinnit, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for West Africa, visited Conakry from 15 to 17 April 2013. The visit follows his appointment by the United Nations Secretary General as the facilitator to represent the Organization in the college of facilitators established within the framework of Guinea’s inclusive political dialogue to create the conditions for the preparation and smooth conduct of the legislative elections. To fulfill his mission, Mr. Djinnit is supported by a team of senior experts of the United Nations based in Conakry.

Said Djinnit reiterates UN support to ECOWAS

Abuja, 8 April 2013 The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa, Said Djinnit attended the 9th Annual Development Partners Coordination Meeting of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Abuja. The purpose of the three day meeting was to discuss challenges in West Africa and the economic integration process. ECOWAS bilateral and multilateral partners such as the European Union, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the UN were invited to reinforce areas of cooperation.

Preserve human rights in addressing new threats to peace and security in West Africa

Dakar, April 3, 2013 - A meeting dedicated to new threats to human rights from the perspective of sub-regional peace and security in West Africa, was held in Dakar today at the United Nations Information Center (UNIC). It was jointly organized by the United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) and the United Nations Political Office in Mali (UNOM).
