Meeting of SRSG Said Djinnit and the President of Mali Ibrahim Boubacar Keita
Dakar, 18 February 2014 - Mr. Said Djinnit, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa, was received in audience in Koulouba - Bamako today by the President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali with whom he exchanged views on the situation in the Sahel and West Africa. The meeting was held in the presence of Mr. Albert Koenders, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Mali.

Dakar, 17 February 2014 - The United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA ), organized today a handover meeting on the United Nations Integrated Strategy. The meeting marked the end of the mandate of the United Nations Secretary- General’s Special Envoy for the Sahel, Romano Prodi, who handed over his responsibilities to the United Nations system in West Africa.

Communique adopted at the thirty second session of the Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission
Abuja, 2 February 2014 - The Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission established pursuant to the Joint Communiqué adopted at the Summit Meeting which took place in Geneva on 15 November 2002 between His Excellency Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon and His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, the then President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the presence of His Excellency Kofi Annan, then Secretary General of the United Nations, held its Thirty Second Ordinary Meeting in Abuja on 1st and 2 February 2014.

Abuja, 2 February 2014 - The Commission on the delimitation of the boundary between Cameroon and Nigeria closes its Thirty-Second (32nd) Session in Abuja, Nigeria. The Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission is composed of Delegations of Cameroon and Nigeria led respectively by Mr. Amadou Ali, Vice Prime Minister and Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke, Minister of Justice. It is chaired by the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for West Africa, Mr. Said Djinnit.

West Africa remains "fragile" despite progress towards stability, SRSG says to Security Council
17 December 2013 - In spite of the praiseworthy efforts made by the leaders of West Africa, the region remained fragile and would require the ongoing support of the international community, the United Nations envoy for the region said in a briefing to the Security Council today.

Regional strategy to combat piracy in the Gulf of Guinea

Dakar, 26 October 2013 - The Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC) met today in Dakar, with the support of the United Nations, to discuss the implementation of the regional strategy on maritime safety and security in the Gulf of Guinea.
