On visit to West Africa, Security Council praises Liberia’s progress

Ahead of their visit to Côte d’Ivoire, the members of the Security Council commended Liberia for its progress since the end of its civil war in 2003, and reiterated their support for efforts on reconciliation and inclusive dialogue in the West African country.

UN envoy to take part in regional meeting on Mali, Guinea-Bissau political crises

As part of the United Nations’ ongoing efforts to ensure the full restoration of constitutional rule in Mali and Guinea-Bissau, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for West Africa, Said Djinnit, will participate in an upcoming regional meeting on the political crises in the two countries.

Security Council to visit Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire and Sierra Leone

The members of the United Nations Security Council will leave New York on Friday for an official mission to West Africa.

The 15 ambassadors will visit Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire and Sierra Leone, a UN spokesperson told reporters at UN Headquarters in New York.
