Closure of UNSOA

The United Nations Support Office for the African Union Mission in Somalia mandate concluded on 09 November 2015, following UN Security Council Resolution 2245, transitioning its responsibilities to United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).

The UNSOA-authorized support package for AMISOM includes vital life support such as food, water, health and sanitation, fuel, facilities and engineering, vehicles and other equipment, communications and IT, property management, capacity building, aviation and medical services. UNSOA’s mandate was extended to encompass administrative and logistical support to the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region (O/SESG-GLR) and the Somalia and Eritrea Monitoring Group (SEMG).

Support funded by the AMISOM Trust Fund

The AMISOM Trust Fund, through which member states make voluntary contributions to AMISOM, augments UNSOA's continued support.
