Closure of UNOWA

The United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) was established in January 2002 to promote political stability in the region. Its mandate ended in January 2016, when it merged with the Office of the Special Envoy for the Sahel (OSES) to form the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

Dakar, le 26 mars 2012 - Le Représentant spécial du Secrétaire général des Nations Unies pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest, Said Djinnit se réjouit du climat apaisé, libre et transparent dans lequel s’est déroulé le second tour de l'élection présidentielle, à l’instar du premier tour. Il félicite le peuple sénégalais pour la belle victoire qu'il offre ainsi à la démocratie.
