Closure of UNOWA

The United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) was established in January 2002 to promote political stability in the region. Its mandate ended in January 2016, when it merged with the Office of the Special Envoy for the Sahel (OSES) to form the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

Ibn Chambas welcomes the invitation by Pr. Alpha Condé to the leader of the Guinean opposition

Dakar,11 May 2015 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for West Africa, M. Mohamed Ibn Chambas welcomes the invitation extended by the President the Republic of Guinea, M. Alpha Condé to the leader of the Guinean opposition, M. Cellou Dalein Diallo to a meeting in an effort to ease political tensions in the country.
