Closure of UNOWA

The United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) was established in January 2002 to promote political stability in the region. Its mandate ended in January 2016, when it merged with the Office of the Special Envoy for the Sahel (OSES) to form the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

Twenty-fifth high-level meeting of Heads of UN Peace Mission in West Africa

On 29 November 2013, the Heads of the United Nations (UN) Peace Mission in West Africa held their twenty-fifth high-level consultation in Dakar in order to review progress in the coordination of the activities of the United Nations in promoting peace and stability in the sub-region.
