UN Noon Briefing - SRSG Mohammed Ibn Chambas - 13 Feb 2015
Good morning all- and thank you for this opportunity.
I would like to share with you few remarks on the recent developpement regarding the election process in Nigeria in the context of a regional reaction to stop the threat posed by Boko Haram terrorism.
Since Sunday, I am in Abuja to follow closely the situation. In this period, I have met the two candidates, President Goodluck Jonathan and General Muhammadu Buhari. I have once again reiterated the appeal of the Secretary General and the wider international community to them to urge their followers to refrain from any action that will jeopardize the process, in order to ensure violence-free, fair and credible elections.
